![]() ![]() After hiring Hall, the group finished the Commander Keen series, then hired Jay Wilbur and Kevin Cloud and began working on Wolfenstein 3D. After their first royalty check, Romero, Carmack, and Adrian Carmack (no relation) decided to start their own company. The first Commander Keen game, Commander Keen in Invasion of the Vorticons, was released through Apogee in December 1990, which became a very successful shareware game. One of these was Commander Keen, a side-scrolling game that incorporated the previous work they had done on the Super Mario Bros. Although disappointed by not actually having received mail from multiple fans, Romero and other Softdisk developers began proposing ideas to Miller. When he confronted Miller, Miller explained that the deception was necessary since Softdisk screened letters it received. Īround the same time in 1990, Scott Miller of Apogee Software learned of the group and their exceptional talent, having played one of Romero's Softdisk games, Dangerous Dave, and contacted Romero under the guise of multiple fan letters that Romero came to realize all originated from the same address. While the pair had not readily shared the demo though acknowledged its existence in the years since, a working copy of the demo was discovered in July 2021 and preserved at the Museum of Play. According to Romero, Nintendo had told them that the demo was impressive, but "they didn't want their intellectual property on anything but their own hardware, so they told us Good Job and You Can't Do This". The IFD team moonlighted over a week and over two weekends to create a larger demo of their PC version of Super Mario Bros. When Romero saw the demo, entitled Dangerous Dave in Copyright Infringement, he realized that Carmack's breakthrough could have potential. 3, inserting stock graphics of Romero's Dangerous Dave character in lieu of Mario. Upon making this breakthrough, Carmack and Hall stayed up late into the night making a replica of the first level of the popular 1988 NES game Super Mario Bros. In September 1990, Carmack developed an efficient way to rapidly side-scroll graphics on the PC. Along with another Softdisk employee, Lane Roathe, they had formed a small group they called Ideas from the Deep (IFD), a name that Romero and Roathe had come up with. The founders of id Software – John Carmack, John Romero, and Tom Hall – met in the offices of Softdisk developing multiple games for Softdisk's monthly publishing, including Dangerous Dave. In 2015, they opened a second studio in Frankfurt, Germany. On June 24, 2009, ZeniMax Media acquired the company. Most tuners are “chromatic tuners” and detect all 12 distinct notes. Over time, the strings loosen, and the instruments need to be tuned to maintain optimal sound. It would appear that making all elements of the daughterboard a single footprint somewhat is required so that you literally have to go into the footprint editor to alter the locked relationship and you can not do that in the layout.įrom here there are various implications as to exactly how to incorporate the various elements with symbologies seeming to be the most straightforward. I want a method to insure that following a layout of the main board, that I had not inadvertently shifted one of the element of the daughterboard footprint. In my case I have a daughter board footprint is that relatively complex (4 mounting holes and 7-8 fine pitch connectors). Your manual method obviously does not do that. Being able to simply check one index on the layout and be sure that the entire mezzanine footprint is locked is what this question is about. Not having to be extremely careful is the objective. In this case extremely careful means taking an inordinate amount of time to check and recheck after every time you think you are at a final till you eventually forget and make a mistake and invalidate the whole PCB design without even knowing it. ![]() I guess it almost goes without saying that a manual process you describe would work if you are extremely careful. Making the connector references electrical (PTH) causes schematic problems (they have to be on the schematic) and I’m still not absolutely sure that having a NPTH on top of a NPTH is a good idea and I don’t think having a NPTH on top of a PTH is very good either.ĮDIT: I reread your comments and the “EXPLODE” is another step separate from the save as R12? Again I’m not familiar at all with these CAD packages. I’m using some graphics now as Joan had used above but I don’t really like it. Right now I can have my daughterboard footprint well placed and inadvertently move one of the correctors(because they are all separate). This is kind of an interim solution anyway, I was mainly looking for ways to locate mounting holes in my daughterboard footprint so I can’t move the connector holes without shifting the entire footprint. I’ll just have to get back to this later. As it turns out I don’t need them and the ones I do need are now located in my layout (as long as I don’t move them). Thanks for the extra effort as mentioned above I did use LibraCAD to save in a R12 format and I then still lost pin graphics. ![]() ![]() ![]() Grep2(value = TRUE) returns a character vector containing the selected elements of x (after coercion, preserving names but no other attributes). grep(x topdownloads, pattern 'r', value TRUE, ignore.case TRUE) 1.
